Just a sample of ring i create in a Maya using mental ray.

In this first u have to create good light effect for proper shading and then play with mental ray final gather and caustic . I also use HDR to create environment effect

How to rotate cube another step after one step and so on….?

Here is the solution I rotate cube by moving pivot point.

In this tutorial pivot pt. move to one edge to another edge, so we don’t need any extra pivot to rotate cube second time.

I create waving flag in this tutorial with the help of ncloth (Maya).
Here I just convert poly plane to ncloth and tied (with the help of ncloth constrain) to pole, then just add wind in nucleus node. no need to add extra air or any other field.

This tutorial is showing how u can emit particle from biped. You can create very good motion with the help of biped and then with biped particle also move same way.

First create biped and give it some motion with the help of *.bip file or create by footstep mode. Create particle flow and change Position Icon to Position object, so that u can choose biped (all part of biped but not bip01).
Remove speed and add Delete operator, put particle life 1.Now change in birth operator and increase particle amount to 100000 or 200000 depending on your system.
